On songwriting
I have heard it said that songs are like photographs. Simply stated, for me at least, they are a captured feeling, idea or moment converted into a song which hopefully conveys the emotion of the subject. — NLS

ashes to ashes
& dust to dust
its ringing in my ears
in god we trust
there’s drizzle on the pane
and the tractors gone to rust
its ringing in my ears
in god we trust
its ringing in my ears
in god we trust
keeps ringing in my ears..

colors of a flag
or lines on the ground
fall in line
and don’t make a sound
you better have your ticket
when the man comes round
and ashes ashes
we all fall down
ashes ashes

we all fall down
just a-filling up the ground
following the leader
as we all gather round
lets celebrate
cause the devil has been found
and ashes ashes
we all fall down
ashes ashes

the devil has been found
now he wont come around
in the silence of the earth
and secrets underground
we’re saving you from sin
and we’re ready to begin
and ashes ashes
we all fall down
ashes ashes

Cant Forget
It is mostly about the empty or lonely feeling one has when a relationship ends. No matter how it all ends, the excitement from the beginning of the relationship is a thrilling feeling that many seek out and crave. I have known many people who have sort of an addiction to that thrill, and, once the luster fails a little, its time to move on to find the next big one.

Sometimes,
I can’t find a friend
it seems like
it’s the end

I can’t forget
I can’t forget
I can’t forget
I can’t forget
the day we met
the day we met
the day we met

some things in life you
just don’t forget
I don’t think that I’ll
come to regret

cold chill
through my bones
no you
can’t come home

I can’t forget
I can’t forget
I can’t forget
I can’t forget
the day we met
the day we met
the day we met

some things in life you
just don’t forget
I don’t think that I’ll
ever regret

Get up, get dressed
get in your car
its off to work, its not that far
its stop and go
the morning drive
you can't believe you’re still alive

no music on the radio
just talk talk talk
and stop & go
punch in, sit down
pick up the phone
and don't forget your pleasant tone....

late morning comes
you start to brood
its time now for some plastic food
jump up race out
and stand in line, maybe I won’t
feel sick this time

punch in, sit down
pick up the phone
and don't forget your pleasant tone....
tick tock tick tock - the minutes crawl
tick tock tick tock
my shoulders fall

bad lights bad chairs and my back bends
press one for hold
press two for send
I dream of home the garage door
and my bare feet on
wooden floors

I open wine and fill my glass
I see the couch and
plant my ass
I’m home at last I close my eyes
time to remove
my old disguise

I toss and turn
and sometimes stare
the alarm clock is always there
punch in, sit down
pick up the phone
and don't forget your pleasant tone....

Summer

talking walking living loving
sweeter in the morning sunshine
waking baking up
and coffee by the gallon

summer is warm and good
can’t believe it feels this ....

feel that ocean breeze
grab your coat
we’re going to the beach

summer is warm and good
can’t believe it makes me feel this ....

long day warm night
rolling in the candlelight
waking up the crack of noon
don’t wanna leave you so soon......

summer is warm and good
can’t believe it feels this ....

feel that ocean breeze
grab your coat
we’re going to the beach

Lyrics

Can't Wait For The Storm

I feel the rain falling
on my sleeve
I see the wind driving
down my street
just watched a newspaper
blow past my feet

I can’t wait for the storm
and it won’t be long

I walk around thinking
what should I do
I watch the waves breaking
and thinking of you
my toes are freezing
how about you?

I can’t wait for the storm
and it won’t be long

the sky is dark, cloudy
I feel the breeze
I light the candles
you start to sneeze
I call your name softly
give you a squeeze

I can’t wait for the storm
and it won’t be long

It smells like rain now
we walk outside
I’m glad I came now
except for the drive
we start to dance now
I close my eyes

I can’t wait for the storm
and it won’t be long

I stare without blinking
what do I see
I wonder what you
thinking of me
the traffic whispers
under the tree

I can’t wait for the storm
and it won’t be long

Don't Know Why

I don’t know why
I don’t know why I don’t miss you

and still sometimes
I tell myself that lie

its fading now
but still somehow
I can see your eyes

and it keeps me awake
I toss and turn all night

in my dreams
I know that I can fly
so why not now
why not now in my life

so I’ll take my time
and drink my wine
waiting for the day

that you come around
with a different name and face

in my dreams
I know that I can fly
so why not now
why not now in my life

I'm Not High

I’m not high, I’m not drunk
but I’m in, a big funk

she’s gone, she left me
‘cause I, couldn’t see

what she want me to see
and do, I guess, we’re through

so I guess I’m gonna walk
down the road
try to loosen
up my load

so I guess I’m gonna ...

tell the truth, to me
don’t be afraid, to be
yourself, and you’ll see
we’ll be together
just you and me

so I guess I’m gonna walk
down the road
try to loosen
up my load

so I guess I’m gonna ...

some times, when we’re talking
it seems, we tend to go to extremes

and then, we try to pretend to see

if we can walk like friends
down the road
try to loosen
up my load

so I guess I’m gonna ...

you call at night, when you been drinkin’
it ain’t right, what are you thinkin’

can’t get no rest, I should be sleepin’
gave you my best, til you went creepin’

so I guess I’m gonna walk
down the road
try to loosen
up my load

so I guess I’m gonna....

Overrated

don’t mean to sound so damn jaded
don’t have to be so complicated
whatever happened to the truth
it fell asleep in our booth

too bad I feel so outdated
everything just feels so overrated
waiting for a signal from above
now you calling that love
one
I like to take my time
two
I gotta speak my mind
don't care what you think
gonna have a drink

the drums are pounding in my ears
the message is perfectly clear
say what you want to say
long as you see it their way

you keep on talking all the time
saying we need to get in line
they say that every single action
causes an opposite reaction

check out the latest offender
he says he’ll never surrender
we have to do what we can
to force them into our plan

one
I like to take my time
two
I gotta speak my mind
don't care what you think
gonna have a drink

Rio Bonito

the rain outside is pouring
my spirit’s soaring
I’m gonna be there soon

passin’ by rio bonito road
passin’ by rio bonito road

she’ll be there waiting
with her eyes smiling
I’ll sleep by her side tonight

passin’ by rio bonito road
passin’ by rio bonito road

the sun is still sleeping
it hurts me to leave
but I must be on my way

passin’ by rio bonito road
passin’ by rio bonito road

I can’t wait to see her
it’s been so long
I’m going home tonight

passin’ by rio bonito road
passin’ by rio bonito road
